The journey toward a low-carbon and climate-resilient future demands not only ambition, but also unprecedented levels of capital mobilization and accountability. As key contributors to this transition, Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) recognize that harmonized action and transparent reporting are indispensable to demonstrating results, building market confidence and scaling climate finance. This session will explore how several MDBs are engaging with the ISSB Standards, not as a compliance exercise, but as an enabling framework to enhance the credibility, consistency, and coherence of their climate-related reporting. It will also discuss how this evolving alignment can support MDB in scaling their impact in delivering the Paris goals.

Climate finance in emerging and developing economies remains fragmented. Despite growing global commitments, capital flows for low-carbon and climate-resilient development still fall far short of what is needed. The session will bring together representatives from multilateral development banks, climate funds, sovereign wealth funds, philanthropic institutions, and private investors to discuss how blended finance can bridge institutional gaps, scale capital mobilization, and accelerate climate action. Together, these discussions will set the foundation for turning ambition into implementation to support our shared ambition.

The Paris Agreement laid the foundation for collective action while recognizing the need for a flexible, nationally driven approach rather than a centralized, top-down framework. Within this context, major emerging economies play a particularly important role. Countries such as China, India, and Brazil are shaping global climate outcomes through their scale, innovation, and efforts to advance economic growth alongside the transition toward cleaner energy and more sustainable industries. In recognition of this dynamic, AIIB and the Institute for Climate and Society are co-hosting a seminar at the RCF Pavilion in the Blue Zone.

Financing health systems, especially in vulnerable regions, is a necessary form of adaptation to environmental risks. Recognizing this expands the options for countries to build the resilience of their populations and positions health sector investments as a core part of national adaptation strategies. The panel will discuss perspectives from various public and private players in health and adaptation space, including MDBs, Global Health Institutions, DFIs, non-government organizations and others.

Nature finance today remains fragmented and insufficient to address the magnitude of global biodiversity loss and climate change. To bridge the gap, the report “Unlocking Private Finance for Nature as Infrastructure: A Public–Private Partnership” introduces a new paradigm: treating nature as infrastructure and deploying Public–Private Partnerships for Nature (PPPNs) as a core delivery model.

Jointly developed by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the Paulson Institute, the report highlights how ecosystems such as forests, wetlands, and mangroves can be recognized as critical, investable assets, enabling nature to access the same financing pathways as traditional infrastructure through national investment plans, blended finance, and PPP frameworks.

By aligning public policy with private capital, PPPNs can provide standardized structures, long-term contracts, and measurable outcomes to scale up private investment in high-integrity nature projects.

This event will explore how governments, multilateral development banks, and investors can operationalize PPPNs, integrate nature into economic systems, and deploy catalytic financial instruments such as guarantees, insurance, and biodiversity credits to mobilize capital at scale.
